The Magic Returns: The Nutcracker Dances Into the Holidays — Tickets on Sale October 27!

It’s that time of year again — when the lights dim, the music swells, and the magic of The Nutcracker comes to life! Idaho Regional Ballet and Eagle Performing Arts Center (EPAC) are proud to present their annual holiday tradition, The Nutcracker, returning to the Boise State University Special Events Center December 19–21.

Each performance brings Tchaikovsky’s timeless score to life with dazzling costumes, exquisite choreography, and over 150 children’s roles — all performed by local dancers ages 5 to 18, alongside professional guest artists from Miami City Ballet.

This year’s production promises to be more enchanting than ever. Principal dancers Ashley Knox (Sugar Plum Fairy) and Shimon Ito (Cavalier) will grace the stage, joining EPAC’s talented Idaho Regional Ballet company and advanced students for a breathtaking holiday spectacle the whole family will love.

“We’re incredibly proud of this production,” says Artistic Director Elizabeth. “From our tiniest baby mice to our senior company leads, every dancer brings heart, precision, and magic to the stage. The Nutcracker has become a true community celebration.”

💫 A Holiday Tradition with Heart

The Nutcracker isn’t just a ballet — it’s a story of dreams, courage, and transformation. For many of these young dancers, it’s also a milestone in their artistic journey. The youngest EPAC students appear as baby mice, while intermediate and advanced dancers perform as angels, bonbons, snowflakes, and flowers, growing into their roles year after year until they finally reach the stage as lead characters like Dew Drop or Sugar Plum Fairy.

Every leap and twirl is the result of months of training and dedication — and when the curtain rises, the audience becomes part of that magic.
