Learn What’s Coming to Eagle — and How We’ll Pay for It

Join us tomorrow night — Thursday, July 24 — for the Capital Plan Open House, where you can dive into the City of Eagle’s five-year strategy for investing in major community infrastructure. From road improvements and new parks to upgraded public facilities, this plan lays the groundwork for Eagle’s next phase of growth.

    What Is the Capital Plan?

The Capital Plan outlines how the city funds and prioritizes major investments — any tangible project over $75,000 with a lifespan of at least five years. It’s divided into two essential parts:

    1. Capital Maintenance
This is all about protecting what we already own. With a replacement schedule in place, staff recommends repairs and upgrades to keep our infrastructure functioning well into the future.

Example: The Eagle Sports Complex skate park, built in the early 1990s, is scheduled for replacement due to age and wear.

    2. Capital Projects
These are new investments that support our growing community — from road extensions to new facilities.

Examples: First Street “Festival Street,” the new City Shop, the Regional Sports Park, and the Idaho Street extension.

What You’ll See at the Open House

    1st Street “Festival Street”
    • First Street Festival Street – A flexible downtown street designed for community events and expanded public space.

    • New City Shop – A shared facility with Eagle Fire Department, replacing outdated buildings off Hwy 16.

    • Shooting Sports Park Enhancements – New restrooms and gated access funded by a grant from Idaho Fish & Game.

    • Idaho Street Extension – Connecting Eagle Road to Stearman, closing important roadway gaps.

    • Downtown Parking & Access Study – Reimagining unused right-of-way for more parking and traffic calming downtown.

    • Tara View Park – A 17-acre fully amenitized park near Beacon Light and Hwy 16, being developed through a public-private partnership.

There are a total of 15 Project to view and to discuss!

    Why This Matters

Most cities don’t take this long-term approach — but Eagle does. We balance our “wish list” of new projects with the critical maintenance of what we already have. And as more is built, ongoing care becomes more important. This plan helps guide that transition and ensures every dollar is accounted for.
