Meet Eagle’s International Photographer, Todd Chavez
It started with a binge-watch. Back in 2013, Todd Chavez and his family’s German exchange student, Leonie, powered through Breaking Bad, starring none other than fellow Idaho native Aaron Paul. A couple of years later, Todd learned through a vanity search that his own name—Todd Chavez—was used for Aaron Paul’s character in the Netflix animated series Bojack Horseman. Todd promised himself that if he ever crossed paths with Aaron, he’d have some fun with it.
Fast forward to December 30, 2019. Todd was having breakfast in McCall when who walked by but Aaron Paul himself. Todd seized the moment, pulled out his driver’s license, and introduced himself.
“Hi, I’m Todd Chavez,” he said.
Aaron Paul’s reaction? Pure disbelief. “No WAY!” he laughed, showing his wife Lauren the license. “Babe! This is Todd Chavez!”
It was one of those surreal Idaho moments—and a story Todd loves to tell. But there’s much more to this Eagle resident than his uncanny name connection to Hollywood. Todd is an international traveler, musician, writer, and photographer whose breathtaking images are now available to the public through Lightscape Imagery.
A Life of Travel and Art
Growing up in Moscow, Idaho, Todd first dabbled with photography in the days of film. It wasn’t until 2007, when he bought his first digital camera for a family trip to Europe, that his passion fully bloomed. Since then, travel and photography have become inseparable for him.
From the rugged coastlines of Portugal’s island, Madeira, to the dramatic landscapes of Iceland, Todd has captured thousands of images documenting his journeys. His Iceland photography, in particular, includes the striking Kirkjufell mountain—a natural landmark made famous in Game of Thrones. His lens doesn’t just find beauty; it tells a story of place, time, and discovery.
Todd’s creative side doesn’t stop with the camera. He’s also a musician, performing percussion for the Idaho Shakespeare Festival for nearly two decades, and even touring North America as part of a band opening for guitar legend Joe Satriani.
Photography That Resonates
Now retired, Todd devotes more time to his craft, sharing his work through his travel blog, photo albums, and curated collections with Lightscape Imagery. Unlike heavily edited digital art, Todd’s style is rooted in authenticity. His images are about light, composition, and the feeling of “being there.”
Whether it’s a windswept Scottish village, a hidden corner of France, or the volcanic beauty of Iceland, Todd’s photography brings the wonder of the world into people’s homes.
