The KYMfest is an annual community event coming to Lakeview Park in Nampa on June 10th. Hosted by For You Network Inc., the festival is an opportunity for community members to access resources when recovering after trauma, violence, and other major life transitions.
“This awareness event brings together all the amazing work our community is doing to stay connected and heal together,” said Chelsea Larsen, founder and President of the nonprofit For You Network Inc. based in Nampa.
KYMfest is an adaptation of Kym’s name, honoring the life of Kymberlee Larsen, the youngest sister of the nonprofit’s founders, who was murdered in a domestic assault in March of 2018. After navigating the overwhelming aftermath of tragedy, the Larsen family started For You Network, Inc. as a platform to connect people with healing resources. They founded the organization as a center for grassroots community support services: providing support groups, informational seminars, and community dialogues for all ages.
“KYMfest is our organization’s most influential program,” said Larsen. “KindYourMind is our movement, encouraging kindness over violence towards oneself and others, over judgment, blame, and shame.”
KYMfest brings together community resources, live entertainment, vendors, local artisans, and delicious eats for an all-day festival experience. Resources that have been represented at past KYMfests include David’s Hope Pregnancy Loss Ministry, Nampa Family Justice Center, Idaho Rising Stars, City of Nampa, Women’s and Children’s Alliance, and Idaho Youth Ranch.
Community support is crucial for healing after trauma. By coming together annually to remember Kymberlee Larsen and honor those who have died due to tragedy, KYMfest sheds light on the impact trauma has on our lives and how community support helps us heal. The festival provides direct opportunities to “kind your mind” and transform harm into healing.
