Eagle After 5

Four local destinations are giving residents plenty of reasons to stay close to home when the workday ends.

There was a time when a night out often meant leaving Eagle. Dinner might start here, but if you wanted a lively bar, a rooftop cocktail or somewhere to linger over wine, chances were good the evening eventually took you toward downtown Boise.

    That is changing.

As Eagle has grown, so has its after-hours personality. Restaurants are becoming gathering places, patios are filling up, cocktails are getting more creative and dinner is increasingly about the experience as much as what’s on the plate.

From Sicilian flavors and wood-fired cooking to rooftop wine, handcrafted cocktails and Southern-inspired fare, Eagle after 5 looks a little different these days.

CACi: A Little Sicily on Riverside

At CACi Wood-Fired Sicilian Grill, the evening starts with the unmistakable character of wood-fired cooking.

Located along Riverside Drive, CACi brings a modern approach to Sicilian and Italian flavors, with a menu designed just as easily for sharing a few plates as settling in for a full dinner. House-made focaccia, arancini, Sicilian meatballs, clams simmered with white wine and Calabrian chili, pizzas and pasta give diners plenty of reasons to order for the table.

But CACi works especially well after 5 because it doesn’t feel overly formal. It’s the kind of place where a spontaneous drink and appetizer can turn into dinner.

Order a pizza, add a bottle of wine, pass a few plates around the table and suddenly nobody is in much of a hurry to leave.

That’s increasingly what dining in Eagle is becoming: less about simply grabbing dinner and more about having somewhere close to home to spend the evening.

Siren Song: Wine With a View

One of the newest additions to downtown Eagle may also offer one of its most distinctive perspectives.

Perched on the third floor of The Hemingway building on State Street, Siren Song Winemaker’s Loft & Bistro brings the wines and lifestyle of Siren Song Wines to the center of Eagle.

Owners Kevin and Holly Brown established Siren Song in Washington’s Lake Chelan wine country, and the Eagle location combines a tasting-room experience with a European-inspired bistro and indoor-outdoor setting. The Winemaker’s Loft opened this spring, adding an entirely different type of destination to downtown Eagle.

The concept is intentionally wine-forward. Rather than rushing through dinner, the idea is to sip, share and linger.

That might mean a glass of wine and a board before dinner, or it might mean staying for the entire evening. Either way, the rooftop setting offers something Eagle hasn’t had much of before: the opportunity to sit above downtown and watch the community move below.

As the sun gets lower and the foothills begin to change color this fall, it may be one of the prettiest places in town to welcome the evening.

    Crave: Eagle’s Established Night Out

When Crave Kitchen & Bar opened in 2020, it helped introduce a different kind of dining experience to Eagle.

Today, Crave has become one of those places that can be several things at once.

It’s date night. It’s girls’ night. It’s dinner with friends. It’s cocktails after work. It’s a birthday celebration or simply a Wednesday evening when cooking doesn’t sound appealing.

    Crave Kitchen & Bar

Locally owned and operated, Crave built its concept around chef-inspired food, handcrafted cocktails and an extensive wine selection. Its menu ranges from steaks and fish to fresh pasta and bread made in-house.

    Then there’s the rooftop.

During the warmer months, Crave’s rooftop patio becomes its own destination, with evening hours Thursday through Saturday.

There’s something about being outside as the temperature drops at the end of an Idaho summer day that makes everyone want to stay for one more drink. Crave understood early that atmosphere matters, and its combination of dining room, bar, patio and rooftop gives guests the ability to choose what kind of evening they want.

Pig Latin: Tacos, Tequila and Good Times

Along the Boise River and Greenbelt on Rivershore Lane, Pig Latin brings a completely different energy to an Eagle night out.

The restaurant blends Latin-inspired flavors with global influences, creative cocktails and shareable plates in a space designed to feel lively and social. Tacos and tequila may be part of the personality, but the concept stretches beyond the expected, making it just as fitting for a full dinner as it is for drinks and a few plates with friends.

The setting is a big part of the draw. Pig Latin’s indoor-outdoor space takes advantage of its location along the Greenbelt and Boise River, while the bar and patio areas take on a livelier feel as the evening gets going.

It’s colorful, energetic and a little unexpected—which is exactly what makes it work for Eagle after 5.

Whether it’s margaritas after work, a date night by the river or a group of friends sharing dinner, Pig Latin gives locals another reason to make the evening itself the destination.

    Staying Close to Home

Together, these four restaurants tell a bigger story about where Eagle is headed.

Each is different, and that’s exactly the point.

A growing community needs more than houses, roads and new storefronts. It needs places where people actually see one another.

The places where someone says, “Meet us for a drink.”

Where dinner stretches longer than expected.

Where you run into another couple you know and push two tables together.

    Where a date night doesn’t require a 30-minute drive.

And where, after a long day, staying close to home doesn’t feel like settling.

    It feels like going out.

    Welcome to Eagle after 5.
