Robert Frost once wrote, “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.” For long-time Eagle resident Amy Janson, those words are more than a line of poetry—they’re a way of life. With wit, charm, and an unmistakable sparkle, Amy has carved her own path in the world of luxury travel, leaving a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to meet her.
Amy is the heart and soul behind Divine Travel Design, a boutique agency specializing in luxury travel experiences. But don’t let the word “luxury” fool you—Amy’s services are as flexible as they are personalized. “Ideally, yes, I focus on luxury,” she admits with a laugh, “but I’ll do anything from Mexico getaways to Disneyland too. I just love to make travel dreams come true.”
Her journey into travel was as serendipitous as it was unexpected. In 2019, while in between jobs, Amy’s husband suggested she connect with a friend-turned-travel agent. What began as a casual coffee meeting turned into a new career path—one that perfectly blended Amy’s background in sales, marketing, cultural anthropology, and her lifelong fascination with other cultures. “It’s funny,” Amy recalls, “when I visited my parents recently, they pulled out an old school project. One of the questions was, ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’ And I had written: a travel agent. I didn’t even remember that.”
Like many businesses launched right before 2020, Amy’s career took an immediate hit when COVID-19 grounded global travel. Instead of building dream itineraries, she spent endless hours canceling flights and rearranging plans. “I once fell asleep on hold for a client after waiting for five hours,” she shares. “It wasn’t glamorous, but it taught me how to handle every worst-case scenario.” That crash course became the foundation of her expertise.
Today, Amy thrives on planning “bucket list” trips that change people’s lives. From luxury Amalfi Coast escapes to multi-country European journeys, she designs each experience with meticulous attention to detail. “I interview my clients the way you would for a magazine story,” she says. “I want to know what they see when they imagine the perfect morning view—an ocean? A vineyard? A city skyline? That level of detail ensures the trip feels like theirs.”
For Amy, it’s not just about logistics—it’s about people. She recalls planning a luxury Italian getaway for a local couple grieving the loss of their adult son. “Seeing their pictures, the smiles, the joy after such heartbreak—it reminded me why I do this. Travel heals. Travel inspires. Travel gives people moments they’ll never forget.”
While her focus is luxury, Amy’s concierge-style services are surprisingly accessible. She charges a modest flat fee—between $100 and $300 depending on the trip—that covers her time, expertise, and ongoing support. In a world of overwhelming online booking sites and misleading hotel photos, Amy gives clients something the internet can’t: peace of mind.
Above all, Amy loves the balance her career gives her. With two teenagers at home, she values the flexibility to grow her business while staying present for her family. “This career found me at the right time,” she says. “It fits my passion for people and cultures, while letting me be there for my kids. It’s not going anywhere.”
And neither is Amy. After more than 20 years in Eagle, she’s deeply rooted in the community she loves. “I want people to think of me when they think about travel,” she says. “This is home, and being able to share the world with people from here—that’s divine.”
