While Eagle is a fantastic place to live, work, and play year-round, my personal favorite time of year here is summer. To me, there’s no better experience than sitting on a restaurant patio enjoying the setting summer sun over the river, socializing with friends and neighbors. Perhaps Eagle’s best strengths are its restaurants, and in this issue we’ve found the best local patios for you and your friends to enjoy this summer.
While Eagle is certainly famous for its fine cuisine, it’s also famous for its rich history. This issue’s historical spotlight focuses on everyone’s famous local getaway: Eagle Island. Did you know it was once called Illinois Island? Take a trip back to 1873 and learn a little bit more about Eagle’s rich history.
If you are looking for learning opportunities for the kids this summer, send them off to the newly installed EdventuresLab. Young inventors and engineers can manipulate a 3D printer, play with an eight foot tall robot, and experiment with a variety of other building materials. While the kids are away, Mom and Dad can relax outside on the Bardenay patio or experience famous Idaho pizza at the new Idaho Pizza Company Location in Eagle.
Of course, there’s so much inside I couldn’t talk about it all here, so go and explore! I enjoy reading this magazine just as much as you—it truly is wonderful that Eagle has such a diverse and high-achieving community. Whatever you do, remember to spend these precious school-free summer nights with loved ones, and make every second of this summer count. Together, the Eagle community only continues to grow stronger, and I look forward to seeing and hearing about your stories this summer.
Wishing all of you the best,
Kirk Walton—Editor
