An Infusion of Great Taste

Before opening their charming tasting room that carries specialty olive oil and balsamic vinegar,  Hope Manna and Kellie Allred worked in the entertainment industry in California. Hope owned a post-production company on Olive Avenue in Burbank and doubled as a writer/producer. Kellie was a producer/director for various film studios, including Paramount Studios which was located near Hollywood and Vine. “We thought Olive and Vyne was a fun play on words. We named the store in a matter of minutes,” recalls Kellie.

At Olive and Vyne you can “try before you buy.”  Bread is available for dipping and cherry tomatoes or cucumbers for gluten-free guests. With over 30 varieties from around the world, there are plenty of flavors to sample and enjoy. “We like to have fun with our customers and talk about food non-stop,” says Kellie. A favorites for salad is cucumber melon balsamic vinegar paired with basil-infused olive oil; for meat and poultry, try chile pepper balsamic vinegar paired with garlic-infused olive oil. Pancakes and waffles are elevated, replacing vegetable oil with blood orange extra virgin olive oil and substituting huckleberry balsamic for maple syrup.

“Our tagline for Olive and Vyne is ‘a unique tasting experience,’” notes Hope. “When people come into our shop, we consider them guests in our homes. Hospitality is key and we love to create a fun atmosphere. We want people to relax and take as much time as they need to taste, explore, and hopefully have fun in the process.”

“We are known for our rotating seasonal recipes throughout the shop to give people new ideas from soup to nuts. (Literally!),”  says Kellie. “We love our products and use them every day. When you love what you do, it is somewhat contagious.”

“Nearly everything at Olive and Vyne is gluten-free and organically produced, so it makes for a healthy indulgence and flavorful choice for people with allergies, celiac disease, heart conditions, weight conscious, or simply mindful of healthy ingredients,” notes Hope.  “I can’t tell you how many people have told us that our products have made a difference in their meals and in turn, how they feel about food. That’s a beautiful thing.”

“Olive and Vyne has been nominated two years in a row for Best Gluten Free Menu in the Treasure Valley. We take pride in that,” says Kellie.

“For us, helping a customer is more than making a sale,” says Hope. “This might not be the best business advice for someone starting a new business, but our focus is really about our customers’ palate. What do they like to eat? Do they have dietary or medical limitations? Are their kids picky about food? Do they like to entertain? Do they like to cook and experiment or do they want big flavor quickly with little hassle? We really want to understand our customers and then help them to find flavors that they can take home and be excited about.”

Hope and Kellie have been Eagle residents for five years. Hope relocated to Idaho in 2010. “I love the vibe in Eagle. It’s a great town filled with interesting restaurants, shops, easy going people, and a deep sense of community. I try to support Eagle in all that I do, including personal and business. I’m delighted to see Eagle grow and thrive and for Olive and Vyne to be a part of it.”

Kellie is a native Idahoan. She grew up in Boise, attended Capital High School, and  received a degree in film from San Diego State. “I had a fulfilling and fascinating career in Hollywood but moved back to Idaho to be near family,” says Kellie. “Family is very important for me.”

Olive and Vyne just celebrated a 2 year anniversary on April 29th, which is also Hope’s birthday. In addition to olive oil and balsamic vinegar, the tasting room has expanded to include specialty herbs, spices and sugar, gluten-free baking mixes, unique merchandise, and a wide variety of gift-giving options.

Visit their North Channel Center First Wednesday Patio Party on July 6th, August 3rd, and September 7th for free wine tasting, prize giveaways, live music, and local artists. Stay cool and relaxed under the misters.

Hope’s philosophy of life is “Do what you love, love what you do.” Kellie’s also fits their approach. “Enjoy life with love, laughter, family and friends, and of course, great olive oil and balsamic vinegar!”
