The Flying Pickle: Elevating the Pickleball Experience

In the heart of the Treasure Valley, a new beacon for pickleball enthusiasts is emerging on the outskirts of Eagle, Idaho in Meridian. The Flying Pickle, an indoor pickleball facility, promises to be a game-changer in the world of this fast-growing sport. We had the pleasure of speaking with the dynamic duo behind this exciting venture, Susannah Barr and Nick Petterson, to get the inside scoop on what makes The Flying Pickle unique.

The concept behind The Flying Pickle was born from a shared love for pickleball and a deep desire to enhance the local pickleball scene. Susannah and Nick envisioned not just a place to play, but a community hub where players of all skill levels could come together to enjoy the sport they love. From this vision, The Flying Pickle took flight.

What sets The Flying Pickle apart from other pickleball venues? According to Susannah and Nick, “Almost everything!” The facility spares no expense in creating the perfect pickleball experience. The attention to detail is evident in every aspect, from the height of the ceilings, court spacing, and lighting to the cutting-edge technology integrated into each court. The commitment to excellence extends beyond the courts to The Kitchen, an in-house restaurant helmed by the talented Chef Gabe Gagliardi, ensuring that The Flying Pickle isn’t just a place to play but a destination.

Visitors can expect a wide range of amenities and services, including a players’ lounge, well-appointed locker rooms with showers, and, of course, The Kitchen. The facility offers court reservations, open play, organized play, leagues, and tournaments. Thanks to a partnership with Playsight, players can even record or livestream their sessions. The Flying Pickle truly caters to pickleball enthusiasts.

The facility’s location in Meridian, Idaho, is central, accessible, and spacious enough to comfortably accommodate 18 courts and all the amenities. It’s the ideal home for a facility that aims to serve the entire Treasure Valley.

The Flying Pickle aims to be inclusive, welcoming players of all skill levels. Organized play, leagues, and tournaments are skill-level based, ensuring that everyone can enjoy their time on the courts. Regular Learn to Play Pickleball classes will also be offered to introduce newcomers to the sport.

To support players in improving their skills, The Flying Pickle boasts a roster of talented instructors offering private lessons, semi-private lessons, clinics, and drill sessions. Pro Members even get a free monthly drill session.

Safety and health measures are a priority, with an AED, first aid kit, and wheelchair on-site, and a well-trained staff to ensure a secure environment.
