Boise Valley Economic Partnership

Boise Valley Economic Partnership
Question:  What is the Boise Valley Economic Partnership?
Answer:  The Boise Valley Economic Partnership is a regional economic development initiative designed to keep, grow and attract jobs for the communities of the Boise Valley. We are a non-profit organization that is funded from the investments of the local communities and business leaders. Our partnerships include 20 percent public-sector stakeholders and 80 percent private-sector stakeholders.

Q:  What kind of initiatives is BVEP involved in currently?

A:  BVEP is working off of the Competitive Edge Initiative, which is a five-year focused initiative targeting business recruitment, advocacy, as well as business retention and expansion efforts. The goal of the initiative is to create 3,000 economic-based jobs by targeting industries that will succeed in the area and trying to recruit companies in those industries to expand or relocate to the Boise Valley.

Q:  How does BVEP affect Eagle?

A:  BVEP works as a one-stop organization for companies that are looking for information about the area.  We spend time putting together their research requests, setting up meetings for them, and hosting their company representatives when they would like a site visit of the Valley.  We partner with all of the cities in the Valley to attract growth for the region.  BVEP represents the cities of Boise, Garden City, Eagle, Meridian, Nampa, Caldwell, Star and Mountain Home when we are working with clients.  We see a "win" (a company expanding or relocating, local growth, positive legislation, etc) for any of the cities in the region as a "win" for all of the cities.

Q:  What would you like Treasure Valley residents to know about BVEP that they may not know?

A:  As an economic development agency, we have learned that business is what sells business.  Knowing that, BVEP constantly works with our investor companies and local cities when we are bringing in clients to try and sell the Valley.

We also focus on aggressive recruitment through sales missions to some of the larger cities in the United States.  By visiting consultants and companies who work within the industries that do well in the Valley, we generate leads that hopefully turn into projects. Our primary target industries include: Alternative Energy Manufacturing, Health Sciences, Food Processing, Computer/Electronics, Professional Services, Civilian & Military Aviation/Air Cargo Operations and Energy Efficiency Technologies.

bMobile Technology

bMobile Technology
Question: What business are you in?
Answer:  bMobile creates software for small businesses who go to their customers. Our Boise clients include wholesale distributors such as Oroweat Bakery, Great Basin Beverage and Scott’s Automotive, and local service companies such as landscapers, veterinarians and HVAC repairman. Our apps allow those companies to track the sale of products and services in the field and sync that information to their office accounting system remotely. Our apps can be installed on PCs, MACs, and mobile devices.

Q:  What makes your company different from other companies in the field?
A:  Our company is unique in that we create mobile business apps exclusively for small businesses, from 1 – 100 employees primarily. With a dozen employees, we are small enough to quickly adapt products to changing market needs and market conditions, but large enough to do it everything in-house; software development, sales, and technical support are performed right here in Eagle.

Q:  How has the down economy affected your business?
A:  When the economy slowed, our business actually picked up. Because our software is engineered to help businesses operate more profitably, the interest in our technology increased as companies struggled to stay alive. We’ve had record years in each of the last three years.

Q:  What actions have your company taken to accommodate the down economy?
A:  When money became tight for small businesses, we increased our focus on products to help businesses cut costs and increase employee productivity. Plus, we created apps that could be used on low cost consumer devices. While similar competitive products only work on expensive commercial devices, our apps will also work on Android Smartphones, Android tablets, iPhones and iPads.
